The Reston Petting Zoo

We spent the afternoon at the Reston Zoo and were treated to some up close and personal experiences with a bunch of different animals.

Moab

Despite the rainy weather, we had a great time in Moab. We enjoyed spending time with Nana and Pop, taking in the gorgeous scenary at Arches National Park and of course, squeezing in some (muddy) mountain biking!

Nine Months...SERIOUSLY!

It’s crazy to think our little guy is 9 months old! We had our check up this past week and Tanner continues to grow well...he is now up to 21 lbs 6 oz and 28.25 inches.

We had a great weekend which included a little family trip to the zoo to check out the gorillas and some other fun monkeys. While Tanner was periodically interested in watching the monkeys, especially the one swinging around like crazy, the bolts and cement were entirely more fascinating. We are looking forward to a short week before our fall vacation to Moab. Tanner is especially looking forward to spending time with Nana and Pop, while Drew is getting psyched for his Porcupine Rim ride. I'm looking forward to a little experiment...which is worse, Sovereign Trail in shape but pregnant and not knowing it, or Sovereign Trail 9 months postpartum and out of shape...I have a sneaking suspicion I’m in for some hurt.

Delaney and Tanner hit the Playground

Today we enjoyed a beautiful Colorado day at the playground in Green Mountain Falls with Joanna and Delaney. Tanner ate several handfulls of sand, his first, yum, and was quite impressed with Delaney's swift navigation of the playground. He hopes to be following her soon. In the meantime, we will be cleaning sand out of everything, including Tanner's bottom, for several days. Oh joy....

Playing in the River

On our way home from Telluride we stopped in Salida for some lunch and a little break from the car. While there, Drew had to check the kayak park and Arkansas water levels...i guess its never too early to get Tanner playing in the river.

Telluride

We had a fantastic weekend in Telluride. The town is amazing and the views are spectacular. We drove in late Friday evening and woke up to this view from the porch of the condo. What a great way to wake up! While we had a bit of a rainy day on Saturday, we still managed to get out and about for a bit, walking around downtown and going for a short walk along the creek running through town. On Sunday it was gorgeous and we hiked the Bear Creek Preserve trail to a waterfall. Tanner did great in the backcarrier and even got out to stretch his legs and tackle his first bouldering problem.

Setting off on our hike Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure what Opa enjoyed more, carrying Tanner or the gorgeous views.

Tanner checks out the rock...perhaps a little bit of climbing in his future?

One tired little Tanner takes a snooze in the carrier...not a bad way to do a hike.
